Walmart some years ago was exposed for having “dead peasant” insurance, by which they insured themselves against the death of employees, giving the employees nothing from the payout. Their labor practices have been decried as being debasing and marginalizing. Their impact on communities, especially Mom and Pop stores, has been devastating. The loss of jobs from cheap imports has been debilitating.
