Any technical review of NORAD’s actions, or lack thereof, on September 11th 2001 would fill volumes of text, and take the average persons years to make any sense of. We are not going to review this massive amount of technical data, only a general, logical review of NORAD’s action and in-actions of the day. As well, we will review the logic of a few decisions made before September 11th at NORAD. Let’s delve a little into a few of the things happening at NORAD before and on this fateful day.
On the very morning of September 11th, 2001 NORAD was engaged in some very interesting war games. Global Guardian and Vigilant Guardian to name just 2 of the many war games going on that day. These war games would ultimately involve almost the entire system of agencies that are responsible for the day to day safety of America’s airways. The sheer size of the exercise itself seems to defy all logic. Would it be considered logical to schedule war games in such a way as to totally confuse all those involved? I would think that logic, not to mention common sense, would dictate that you would commit a substantial force to not participate in the exercise, in order to ensure continued protection of our airways through the exercise. Yet, logical thought seems to be absent from NORAD on this day!
Another occurrence at NORAD that is of some note actually occurred a few months before Sept 11th 2001 was the removal of NORAD’s shoot down authority, and it being placed in the hands of Dick Cheney and George Bush. Days later, the policy of shoot down would then be reversed back to its position before September 11th 2001, where NORAD could shoot down airborne threats on its own. How logical does that seem to you dear reader?
Up until September 11th 2001 NORAD had the most impeccable record for the interception of errant aircraft over American skies. NORAD had been called on multiple times by officials at the FAA and had responded in great fashion. It would seem that on this day, NORAD would completely break down and loose all control of airborne threats in our skies for over 45 min! Given the record NORAD had before this day, this does not seem logically possible.
Following the line of reasoning that the events at NORAD and its action do not seem logical, there are only two logical conclusions that could be drawn.
Our first logical conclusion is that on September 11th, 2001 our entire military defense network was disabled due to a massive war game in which everyone became confused and the attacks were allowed to progress. The thing is, given the level of professionalism, dedication, not to mention technology of NORAD; this conclusion is pushed beyond the realm of logical thought!
Our second logical conclusion is that NORAD seemed to be operating in a stand down mode for the duration of the attacks on September 11th 2001, allowing them to be 75% successful. This is the most horrifying, yet logical of the two.
Following reason and logic, the only logical way that the attacks were successful, was because NORAD was in effect on stand down. This logical conclusion could offer answers as to how much certain political leaders knew of the attack before the fateful day of September 11th 2001. For all logic and reason, indicate they knew a great deal!
