The situation in the Middle East has taken a turn for the worst over the last few days since the massive chemical weapons attack. We are beginning to see very alarming rhetoric of imminent war from key nations such as the US, Russia, China and Iran. Actual US military intervention in Syria now appears to be on the very horizon, and Russia, with Iran, warn of dire consequences. Syria is only the beginning though friends. If we see surgical strikes, if we Assad fall, if we truly see Isaiah 17 fulfilled in what appears to be the VERY near future, we know (as if we did not already) that perilous times are ahead, and global war will be at play. It may be simultaneous, but an Israeli preemptive strike on Iran is in near sight. Considering also the US economy past the precipice of collapse masked by the stimulus that is the “life support plug,” China and Russia declaring a flee from the ‘world reserve currency’ that is the USD/Petrodollar, ominous radical Islamist warnings of global jihad – especially against the US whom they deem the “Great Satan” and the “Little Satan” Israel – to usher in the 12th Imam/Mahdi, a corrupt administration immersed in scandals desperate to wage war against Christianity, the many “signs in the sun, moon and stars…distress of nations…earthquakes in divers place, pestilence, etc.,” among the countless other “In the last days…” eschatological prophesies; a day that will begin many of shock, despair and anger, will soon replace our current state of mass ignorance, denial and complacency that characterizes our pleasure seeking, egocentric and increasingly immoral country…we cannot continue, nor can we the least afford, to ignore the clear warnings of what is ahead.Please, use your own discernment, and as this scoffing is increasing, do not let this characterize you: “Above all, you must understand that in the last days scoffers will come, scoffing and following their own evil desires. They will say, “Where is this ‘coming’ he promised? Ever since our ancestors died, everything goes on as it has since the beginning of creation (2 Pet 3:3-5).” Please go to the bottom if you do not know Jesus Christ, not just the Savior, but LORD of all.

Each one of us is separated from God by the sin we inherit: marred, depraved by the first sin of man against God, bringing no way to merit salvation, righteously deserving of punishment. God came in the flesh, as Jesus Christ the Son of God, and became the perfect once for all, substitionary, atoning sacrifice. Living the lowest life of servitude, beating every temptation we face in this flesh, a perfect, sinless life of submission to God the Father, severely humiliated and persecuted to the point of being rejected by his own people, he was crucified on a cross, receiving the eternal wrath and judgment of God that we deserve, all for the loving purpose to save us. He was raised from the dead on the 3^rd day, witnessed by ~500 people as Scriptures say, but more importantly witnessed by the lives of many today who previously rebelled, blasphemed and even cursed God, denied his existence, suddenly called to repentance, the identifying “death and resurrection” of Christ in their own lives, dying to the foundation of sin, resurrecting to the foundation of Jesus Christ. 

 

It is only by God’s grace through faith in the complete work of Jesus Christ alone, are we saved: not by our works, sacraments or the tireless, inevitable failure of law-keeping. The Old Testament, the Law, was created to show us our inability to keep God’s commandments; it is the power of sin that leads us to repentance. While on Earth, Jesus taught the “gospel of the Kingdom” to show mankind a standard we absolutely cannot attain in this flesh; externally or internally. All of this for the purpose of putting our faith solely in the saving work of Jesus Christ. It has always been by God’s grace alone, that man is saved by their faith alone in Christ alone, not by our works, good deeds or “keeping the commandments.”
 

If you hear his voice, don’t harden your hearts…  Today is the day of salvation. Do. Not. Wait.
