Almost everything on Facebook — the posts in your timeline, the ads, and features like speech recognition and automatic image tagging — is driven by artificial intelligence (AI).
TI: So to build AI that’s human-like, what obstacles do we need to overcome?
YL: The short answer is: We have no idea. That’s why it’s very difficult to make a prediction as to when “human-level AI” will come about.
In case we have not tuned in to the reality of what happened here then let us explain in more simple terms.
These scientists, physicists, computer programmers, data scientists, and the like thereof are creating something, but have “no idea” of what they creating or what will happen when its AI wakes up or starts programming itself.
Yes that is what the top programmer just told us.
Consider the ending of the film Ex Machina where the female android robotess passes the test, kills her creator, escapes the lab and comes to the city and is now roaming around with the rest of us while we have no idea who or what this thing actually is. She may be your neighbour, your classmate, your co-worker.
Also keep in mind what HAL actually represents. It is more black magic courtesy of the another monster from the past; Hiram Abiff Lives (HAL). These Wizards used the data we gave them with our willing consent and complicity.
This data was not stolen it was simply given with the “Agree” button. Who bothered to read the Terms and Conditions written by the Lawyers and their Social Engineers?
There will be consequences to playing with black magic and technology and using it for nefarious and sinister purposes.
