(Before It's News)

Under a persistent dome of high pressure, high temperatures are expected over the Southern and Central Plains, with highs exceeding the century mark the next couple of days.

A series of weak disturbances will track westward from south Texas toward northern Mexico which will focus an axis of moderate to heavy rainfall. A well-developed upper trough is along the eastern third of the country. Accompanying this trough is slow-moving front which will pool a warm and moist air mass out ahead of it. This combination will lead to periods of showers and thunderstorms.

Disturbances tracking on top of the central U.S. ridge will bring a threat for showers and thunderstorms the next couple of days across parts of the northern Plains and upper MIdwest.

Monsoonal moisture and afternoon heating will trigger showers and thunderstorms over the Four Corners region in the afternoon and evening hours over the next few days.
