(Before It's News)

It’s the Year of Dairy Cows at the Indiana State Fair and things officially kicked off Friday morning in front of the famous Dairy Bar.  General Manager of the American Dairy Association of Indiana says they are excited to showcase all the dairy industry has to offer.  “We want people to know that milk is good for you; cows are good for the economy; and dairy farmers take great care of their animals and the land,” she says.

She tells Brownfield over the fair’s 17 day run – there are some pretty unique exhibits to highlight the dairy industry.  “We have exhibits in the cattle barn, that will be there throughout the fair, where you can actually get on a cow water-bed and see what that feels like,” she says.  “We have several different types of cow bedding that fairgoers can check out and discover how comfortable it is.”

Some of the other events include a reading of the children’s book Buttercup’s Big Day every day at the Dairy Bar, Cowtown USA, and daily dairy cooking demonstrations at the DuPont Food Pavilion.
