Earlier Bloomberg reported on the protests that broke out today on Wall Street:
Protesters Converge on Lower Manhattan, Plan ‘Occupation’
Wall Street firms are the target of a nonviolent demonstration in which organizers say they want 20,000 people to participate with tents, kitchens and “peaceful barricades” in lower Manhattan.
Dubbed “#OccupyWallStreet,” the goal of the protest is to get President Barack Obama to establish a commission to end “the influence money has over our representatives in Washington,” according to the website of Adbusters, a group promoting the demonstration. Organizers want participants to “occupy” the area for “a few months,” according to the website.
“People have a right to protest, and if they want to protest, we’ll be happy to make sure they have locations to do it,” New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg said Sept. 15 at a press conference. “As long as they do it where other people’s rights are respected, this is the place where people can speak their minds, and that’s what makes New York, New York.”
As the demonstration began this afternoon, as many as 1,000 people congregated in the Chase Manhattan Plaza area and, after speakers with a bullhorn rallied the crowd, broke into groups to discuss the event’s goals. Some participants circulated trays of sliced white and wheat bread while others passed out jars of creamy Skippy peanut butter, and distributed apples, bananas and oranges from shopping carts.
Red Flags, Masks
Protesters waved red flags and toted cardboard signs with statements such as “represent the 99%.” Others donned white, mustachioed masks of the anti-authoritarian protagonist from the graphic novel and film “V for Vendetta.” A few people played instruments, including guitars, ukuleles and maracas. Chants and applause periodically erupted around the plaza.
Police encircled the plaza and partitioned Wall Street’s pedestrian walkway.

As the day continued and turned to night, the crowds grew with protestors on the ground saying a crowd of 50,000 had gathered in Wall Street. A little after 9:00 PM, as I previously reported, police began ordering protestors they had to leave by 10:0o PM or face arrest.
The protestors began speaking in union, describe by some as “chanting” in solidarity they would not disperse and would remain in solidarity in the spirit of the protestors at Egypt’s Tahrir square.
The 10:00 PM deadline has passed and protestors report remaining on scene via various social networking sites, even as police begin to gather in mass surrounding the site of the protests.
NYC police have reportedly cut internet service to the area were 50,000 protestors have gathered to participate in the Occupy Wall Street Protests, apparently in an attempt to stop the live video stream and other live reports of the event from making it online.
While many report internet service has been cut to the area, some cell phone networks apparently are still in service.
Pictures sporadically continue to show up on Twitter, Facebook, and other social networking sites which are all being described as “mobile uploads” and provide a glimpse of the situation that is unfolding on the ground.
One picture delivered by cell phone describes “revolutionaries” carrying cardboard boxes. Other tweets report people carrying other items required to set up a permanent camp site toward the square.
Emma Peel has uploaded onto Facebook mobile uploads from the scene of the protests.
There are many reports of regular uniformed police and riot police amassing around the square while shouting orders and warnings to the protestors to disperse.
Mathew Ledbetter posted a picture of columns of police gathering around Wall Street buildings on twitter.
A whole crew of new cops just descended and took position. #OccupyWallStreet #TakeWallStreet
Protestors have also put out requests online for logistical support, including the delivery of a mobile generator so protestors can charge their cell phones. There has even been a website put up to coordinate efforts to “reinforce” the protesters with goods need to remain on scene
.
However, there are also reports from some that the police have blocked off the area and are not letting new people to join the crowd of protestors on the scene. Live video stream recorded just a little while ago showed protestors on the scene urging more people to join them tonight, tomorrow, or as soon possible.

Its about fucking time. People are finally starting to wake up, in the words of the great Immortal Technique, “WE ARE LIVING REVOLUTIONARILY”
WoooHOOOOO !!!!! Way to GO !!!
look at the police protecting their bankers.. how cute
the police are protecting the banking elite and should be considered the enemy of the people.
LOL this is exactly what they want you to do. This will be the reason they use to lock down the country. The people gathering out there are playing right into the hands of the elite, and I wouldn’t be surprised if this was organized by them in the first place.
yeah! instead we stop the elite by…
uh…
being self-righteous in comment sections!
Who is going to lock down the country?! Who! We give THEM power, not the other way around. “This is how their going to lock down the country, and control us” Oh boo hoo! Your a fucking bitch dude! Nobodys going to control me when I fucking riot. Nobody is going to lock me down, bitch we are rising, we have the voices, and we have the power! Get that through your “pity me, im so weak I cant do anything about it” attitude you fucking pansy. Ima god damn man!
50 thousand is a tiny, tiny number considering how man people there are in the area, talk to me when it gets to over 3 million, then I will be looking in with interest. The MSM wont really cover this properly until it gets to a dangerously high number. You want the Whitehouse to take notice you need to boost those numbers massively.
YAAAAWWWN on the weekend? The banksters probably are not even in town. Break out the fucking Molotovs and RPG’s and put down the clipboards then you will be getting somewhere.
@ The Red Pill…
It’s funny they way you chose to see what I said. This is what I’m referring to…obviously for some it needs to be drawn in stick figures so…
There is maybe 50,000 personnel in this country connected to the defense department in some fashion…but what you fail to realize is the technology they posses makes one of their men equal at least 10 of you. But those aren’t even the people you need to worry about.
The cause for concern lies with all of the people that are hooked into the system you fight against…around 100 million…that will remain hooked to the system no matter what evidence you show them. They are shelling out 17% of their income (minimum) to fund this lie that they will never wake up from. They are the arms and legs of your enemy. If you aim for the elites, and even completely got rid of them, the lie would still be alive…to the tune of 100 million people… that would be sold a new lie in order to perpetuate the old ones, and just put another corrupt set of people in place.
What I find amusing is that you decide NOW to “man up” and talk so fucking quick about “rising” when it’s obvious that you should have done that years ago. SOME of us have been risen for 50 years or more and have been fighting intelligently the whole time while the rest of you are still going to your 9 to 5 every day and funding the government with your income and sales tax and consumerism. You really think that it’s not yet beyond the point where the louder you get the more stupid they make you look…except to maybe 5 million or so? You 50,000 in New York right now rioting on Sunday look like total idiots. You’ve had years to fight from the inside…now you want to get out on the street and yell? Use your brains for a second please…and don’t tell all those people watching you that you represent the “awakened” because you don’t…. if you think you do it just shows how unawakened and clueless you are. You represent the 50 thousand that should have stood up 30 years ago but were too afraid or too asleep.
OH, and by the way, you misquoted me just to further your own weak position…
I said….
“This will be the reason they use to lock down the country”
you said I said…
“This is how their going to lock down the country, and control us”
I didn’t say anything about “control us”..you did. You are already controlled if you think rioting is a good solution to anything.
So you waited too long to wake up and now your fear is grabbing you by your puny little balls and making you jump up and lash out at me for something I didn’t even say…hmmm.
“Nobodys going to control me when I fucking riot. Nobody is going to lock me down, bitch we are rising, we have the voices, and we have the power”
You already are controlled so that a fucking lie. If you riot you will show exactly what you are made of…which is succumbing to your fear and responding with violence. You are already locked down and you obviously don’t see it. The “we” that are “rising” are maybe 5 million against their 100 million (which is a conservative estimate btw…it’s probably more like 200 million) so you are way outnumbered and without any credibility once you begin being violent. You have had the power for many many years and are just now saying you’re going to use it when you could have been using it all along but still aren’t…hmm.
The mentality you displayed towards me is exactly what they are preparing for. They are hoping for it. Once you start rioting they get the green light to take you down and shut you up for good…and all right in front of the camera so they can spin the lie about you and get their 200 million to go along with it and pass new laws and give up more liberty to keep people like you from doing any real damage.
@ Justin
So what’s your plan of action then? From what you’re saying we’re damned if we do and damned if we don’t.
My plan of action has been in action for 30 years. That’s something everyone must figure out for themselves.
@Justin
And what is that? To sit around and pretend you know what your talking about? If you’re so against people protesting (not rioting) then why don’t you share your oh so plentiful wisdom? Protesting is a great way to get things to change even if it’s not immediate. Look at Egypt, Seria and Libya. They should have been protesting a long time ago too. But, it’s better late then never. And they’re getting damn far. So, instead of posting things about how protesting isn’t the way, why don’t you inform these people on what the intelligent thing to do is? 50 thousand is a good start. Good for you if you don’t like it, you don’t have to get involved. But there’s no need to post about how these people are wrong. The world doesn’t need narrow minded people like you telling others what’s right and what’s wrong.
awesome
LOL…another seeing what they want to see. Fine by me. The fact you think I said anything was wrong, and the fact that you say I’m narrow-minded shows you are not ready to ask for what you deserve…you only ask for what they want you to ask for, and you don’t even know it. The fight is within. if you all continue your consumerism attitude and behaviors they will prevail. You cannot battle them, they cannot be changed. YOU can change though. The only way the system will die is if you stop feeding it. The only reason rioting works is because you still feed the system…the very system you riot against. You protest on sunday but still go back to work monday and pay your taxes and feed into the society machine.
The solution is common sense, If you can’t figure it out for yourselves then let the world flush you down so you are out of the way of people who already have.
And by the way, NY isn’t the only place protesting. I live in a small city thats plastered with signs about protesting alongside NY. As well as many other places. So there is actually a lot more then 50 thousand people protesting.
so by your reasoning, signs=people? No wonder this country is fucked. You must have gone to school in Florida with math like that.
See what i want to see huh? I’m seeing what you’re posting. So why don’t you post something that will change my mind? Why do you continue to act like you’re better then me? Like i don’t deserve to know? But you know, that’s ok. I don’t need your idea’s. I don’t need your opinion. I have a mind of my own, why would i want yours? Consumerism. There is no way to avoid that. You want to survive, you buy food. You want to grow food instead of buying it? You pay for the seed and water you use to grow the seed. You pay for internet service to post on this. There is no way out of it. Everyone has their own opinions, i was just trying to tell you that in the first post. And you’re 30 year method obviously isn’t working very well if things arn’t changing.
And no, i’m saying that there are people here protesting too. See, you only see what they want you to see. I didnt say signs=people. People here
Protest everyday, actually. Especially against the war. And what does going to school in Florida have to do with anything? I live on the other half of the country. Your not so smart if your classifying states with intelligence.
“Consumerism. There is no way to avoid that. You want to survive, you buy food. You want to grow food instead of buying it? You pay for the seed and water you use to grow the seed. You pay for internet service to post on this. There is no way out of it.”
This is where YOUR mind is narrow. There are ways of doing these things without feeding into the system…or at least minimizing what you feed into the system. If you are not smart enough to find out how yourself then you shall either bow or perish with the masses. My method is working fine, and I and my family are all set. We have been living off of the grid for 15 of those 30 years…without stealing a damn thing. Anyone can do it. The only thing holding you back is your own fear which allows you to rationalize your actions to yourself.
I don’t work for the system like most of you do..I work for myself and my family. 95% of all work I do comes directly back to me and my family..the other 5% is spent for barter.
It’s a bitch to change, there is no doubt about it…and it’s scary…I know that feeling all too well…I was system born and bred. However, anyone can and should make the change. Before I made the leap I was feeding $150,000 a year into the system with only about a 10% return. If you were to analyze your own input the best average you will get is a 30% return based on the true value of things and not the value assigned to it by society.
I don’t think I’m better than anyone honestly…but I know I am smarter than most. My family and I have made the sacrifice in order to affect change. If it doesn’t take globally, who cares, Through are changes we have realized who we really are… so if the planet gets wiped we are OK with that…we are at peace with ourselves and in balance with the universe…and all other verses.
Maybe your subconscious knows I’m right…your responses are quite defensive. I write because I enjoy it, and I love watching the bible thumpers squirm in their guilt and fear…this is my way of knocking on the sky. I cannot control how anyone takes it, but it surprises me how many people take it upon themselves to take what I say personally and lash out at me defensively. The only way to get me to shut up is to not respond. More common sense.
Removing yourself from the problem is the only solution to the problem. Any other method is counter-productive regardless of the intentions. It’s just mathematically impossible.
“Your not so smart if your classifying states with intelligence.”
um, that was a joke son. And yes, you said…
“I live in a small city thats plastered with signs about protesting alongside NY. As well as many other places. So there is actually a lot more then 50 thousand people protesting.”
your words, not mine. You should have said “possibly” instead of “actually” then I might have glazed over it.

a. as an actual fact; really
So i’m narrow minded because i’m not aware of these special ways to change the way i live? I’m not a 50 year old person. I don’t work for the government. And you insulted me, by the way that’s why im defensive. It’s just my opinion, i would love to change the way i live, and i do make little adjustments when i can in my life. Im fresh out of highschool. But just because im not a veteran in life yet doesn’t mean i shouldnt have a say in whats going on, my education has been screwed over the past couple years because these corporate assholes and politicians cant spare a dime. (im just saying this so you don’t go thinking that i’m irrelevent to the situation) And hey, that’s great that you and your family made a sacrifice for the better. I just don’t understand why your not willing to share your secrets if it means making the world a better place. Some people just need a little help. That’s all im saying.
And please, don’t call me son. I’m a female. I’m 17, so i’m not the most in-tune with the world yet. And i apologize, that was my mistake
I should have changed the word. And i don’t mind you posting a reply
Message or whatever, im not trying get you to shut up. I just feel like the way you approached this topic was uncalled for.
@T41T…
I empathize with you man, I was 2 years into airplane mechanic school when the bureaucratic carpet got jerked out from underneath me, leaving me twisting in the wind. I am not a veteran at life either. I scrimped for 5 years with a lawnmower and a beater truck to scrape together 5 grand and blew it on a piece of property in the middle of nowhere. Now I run all of my power from an almost-perpetual motion generator powered by a bicycle, I grow my own food ( from the seeds of plants grown by others I bartered services for (tax-free , of course)) and I barter services with a neighbor for my internet access which he gets for free.
There are niches everywhere that can be taken advantage of to provide you with what you need to survive and thrive…not to survive in society. Society is fucked…don’t bother with it until it has been cleansed..which will be soon.
Hmmm…secrets…not really any secrets to tell. I just took advantage of my resources to learn what I needed to do to make the changes I needed to make. Homemade solar water heaters, how to dig a well for water, gardening, home building, etc etc. You can find everything you need on the internet…just do searches and skim through it. Get yourself an external hard drive and save everything for later reading. Anything you need you can build yourself through trial and error and bartering with your neighbors. Local networking is the most important factor. If you get to know your neighbors and you help them, they will kill themselves to help you. Chances are, once you get away from the densely populated areas, more neighbors
I did insult you and I apologize. Respect earned for sharing some personal info with me. 99% of what I learned I learned through my own research…which, after much generalized animosity towards the world for the lack of help in the beginning, I realized that the way I learned was in fact the best way to learn. It’s a complete lifestyle change…and not one you can easily get away with in the burbs thanks to building codes, housing associations and nosey busybody neighbors.
As a repayment for my insulting nature I would be happy to help with any particulars you may have trouble with in the future. Again I apologize for the insult (it was more a joke than anything)…it comes from my contempt for the system and all of the blind fools still attached to it that I must deal with daily.
Well, Thank you. I really do appreciate it. I can’t do much now with what i have because i don’t have my own place yet. Housing is extremy expensive around here. But i will deffinitley take your tips and do some research, so when I do have my own place i can take them into action. But it’s nice knowing there are other options. I’m greatfull for the help you’ve given me. I wish you the best of luck.
We will see tomorrow.
We will see tomorrow.
Excellent, well done.
