The Chicago Sun-Times reports on the sentencing hearing of Barack Obama’s and Rod Blagojevich’s chief fund raising buddy, Tony Rezko. Rezko was found guilty of corruption and extortion.
But you won’t find much on the Obama connection until you check out Noel Sheppard’s article at NewsBusters.
After he was elected to the U.S. Senate, Barack Obama involved Rezko in a house deal, a move The Obamessiah later called “a boneheaded mistake.” Obama wanted to purchase a home on which the seller had placed a specific condition: the adjacent empty lot had to be purchased at the same time. In the house deal, Rezko’s wife Rita paid the full $625,000 asking price for that parcel.
With that nice assist the Obama’s were able to pay $300,000 under the house’s asking price — a mere $1.65 million — according to ABC News. Obama then expanded his property when he purchased a part of Rezko’s lot for $104,500.
Since this guy was not just Obama’s campaign supporter and fundraiser, but also their personal financial benefactor, perhaps Michelle Obama will violate her ban on sweets and bake Tony Rezko a cake with a file in it? Over a decade is a long time to cool one’s heels in a dank cell.
