The bodies of two missing 4-year-old girls have been found and it appears that they were raped, Colombian police said, adding that two suspects are under arrest.
The killings occurred in the provinces of Huila and Atlantico, the commander of a special police unit to track down missing persons, Gen. Humberto Guatibonza, said.
The body of one of the girls was found Saturday at a ranch in Tello, a city in Huila, where she had been reported missing two weeks earlier, Guatibonza said.
A man arrested by police confessed that he killed the girl, the general said.
The suspect is the boyfriend of the victim’s aunt, a 15-year-old who was caring for the little girl when she went missing, Guatibonza said.
The second victim disappeared in a poor neighborhood in Barranquilla, the capital of Atlantico, and her body was also found on Saturday, Guatibonza said.
The little girl disappeared Friday evening while playing outside her family’s house, relatives said.
The girl’s body was found in a field and she appeared to have been raped and beaten.
