Albet Pujols hit his 11th homerun in the Angels 12-5 win over the Giants yesterday.
Pujols started the scoring early for the Angels when he hit a three run homerun off of Barry Zito in the first inning. He would add another rbi in to end the game with 5 rbi’s and two runs scored. Pujols has 10 homeruns since May 16th. During that time he is hitting above .300 to raise his batting average to .258 from a dismal .212.
Pujols has also chipped in with his glove, making back-to-back stellar defensive plays to end a seventh-inning rally by the Giants.
Early on in the season Pujols struggled mightily at the plate but by the looks of it he has put the biggest slump of his Hall of Fame career behind him. On December 10, 2011 Pujols signed a ten-year deal with the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, worth around $254 million.
The win pushes the Angels to 5 games over .500 and five games back from the Texas Rangers for the American League West lead.
