Brewer hangs tough against backdoor amnesty, competition for jobs

Gov. Jan Brewer has ordered Arizona state agencies to deny driver’s licenses and other public benefits to illegal aliens who obtain work permits under Barack Obama’s sweeping exercise of executive authority.  Bypassing congress, the federal Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals directive is simply the nightmarish DREAM Act repackaged. His scheme, a blatant political overture to cynical Hispanics as the presidential election nears, went into effect Wednesday. It enables the recipients to remain in the United States and not be deported or prosecuted.

In her executive order, Brewer said she was reaffirming the intent of current Arizona law denying taxpayer-funded public benefits and state identification to those living in the state illegally. Read Brewer’s unambiguous Executive Order Re-affirming Intent of Arizona Law In Response to the Federal Government’s Deferred Action Program here.  The language is clear as she directs state agencies to start any necessary emergency rulemaking processes to implement her order.

Since existing Arizona law — overwhelmingly approved by citizen voters — restricts services for individuals without lawful status, those who qualify under Obama’s program will be barred from public benefits including in-state-resident university tuition rates, subsidized childcare, Kids Care, driver’s licenses, business and professional licenses, government contracts and unemployment benefits.

“They are here illegally and unlawfully in the state of Arizona and it’s already been determined that you’re not allowed to have a driver’s license if you are here illegally,” Gov. Jan Brewer said in a press conference Wednesday. “The Obama amnesty plan doesn’t make them legally here.”

Brewer said the state will issue employment authorization cards to those people who apply, but “they will not be entitled to a driver’s license nor will they be entitled to any public benefits.”

The completely unverifiable and unenforceable parameters of who qualifies for wavers of deportations — notably those brought to the U.S. before age 16 and who have not yet reached age 31 — will insure a run on fraudulent documents.  And with a staggering 9.8% unemployment among citizens, the last thing American workers need is competition for already scarce jobs.

Know this: Obama’s scheme is chock full of loopholes designed by open border advocates to guarantee an even wider amnesty along with the votes he needs to continue his erosion of the United States of America.

Although the near-death Periódico de la República de Arizona (Arizona Republic) characteristically plays this issue through the lens of the illegals it supports over American citizens, Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer takes a no-nonsense approach and sticks to the law.

Bravo!
