J. Fife Symington, III tries another water rescue

The McCain/Kyl endorsing cabal has turned to the third-tier to assist the struggling congressional campaign of generational politico Ben Quayle.  Blunderful Quayle has been swimming against the tide in the race for a CD 6 seat.

Just as he first denied and then was fact-forced to acknowledge his involvement in a soft-porn site during his last campaign, he is now backtracking on his dip in the Sea of Galilee.

The desperation exhibited in recruiting disgraced former governor Fife Symington to write a letter to the editor of the AZ República slamming conservative Congressman David Schweikert is beyond stunning. Schweikert has been a conservative standout during his freshman term.

Arizonans will recall that as governor, Symington was indicted on charges of extortion, making false financial statements and bank fraud. He was convicted of bank fraud. Since felons are unable to hold office, Symington resigned midterm as governor in September 1997.

As an interesting water-related aside, J. Fife Symington, III, ultimately was pardoned by Democrat President Bill Clinton, whom Symington had once saved from drowning in a rip tide off Cape Cod, when the two were Ivy League college students.

No wonder he’s been recruited to save the water-logged Quayle who is also flailing against the tide. The establishment, silver-spoon elite, are throwing out life rafts for one of their own.  Yet polling shows that the grassroots of the Republican party overwhelmingly support David Schweikert.

That fact is what’s driving the life rafters to the briny.
