(Before It's News)

Sunday, Aug. 26, 2012 –  Quartzsite residents felt a series of earthquakes, called an Earthquake swarm, which were centered in Brawley, California. Early in the day, locals reported feeling the largest of many throughout the day, which measured magnitudes 5.3 and 5.5.
More than 300 quakes and aftershocks have been recorded so far at the same approximate epicenter, about 16 miles north of El Centro, according to preliminary reports from the U.S. Geological Survey.
The U.S.G.S reported a series of stronger temblors, with a 4.9 magnitude quake striking at 9:41 pm. followed by smaller ones registering at 3.4 and 3.7.
The swarm will “definitely last for days,” and it is possible but unlikely that it could continue for weeks, California Institute of Technology seismologist Egill Hauksson said.
There were no reports of injuries or significant damage. Power went out at the Pioneers Medical Hospital in Brawley, but has been restored.
There were no reports of damage in Quartzsite; just a few rattled nerves.

The L.A. Times updated their information in the evening:
