The foreign secretary, William Hague, says Britain is to step up its assistance to rebel forces fighting Bashar al-Assad’s regime in Syria, donating £5m of ‘non-lethal assistance’ to resistance fighters. Hague said the UK would not be supplying weapons, but the aid would include communications equipment, body armour and field medical equipment …. http://www.guardian.co.uk
