A Great Falls financial adviser who allegedly fatally shot a man near Fairfield Saturday says the shooting was in self-defense as he pleaded not guilty Monday to a charge of deliberate homicide at an arraignment in Teton County District Court.
Donald Alan Kline, 52, was shot in the neck and face Saturday at a rural Fairfield residence.
Teton County Attorney Joe Coble filed a single count of deliberate homicide against Martin Vincent Lau, 57, on Monday when Lau also made his initial court appearance.
A woman who was in the home at the time of the shooting disputed the self-defense claim.
