Olympic Swimmer Ryan Lochte’s Parents’ Home May be Lost to Foreclosure

As if the Olympian didn’t have enough going on, TMZ is reporting that Ryan Lochte’s parents may be losing their house.
A lawsuit filed in Florida’s Volusia County reportedly states Steve and Ileane Lochte have not made a mortgage payment since February 2011, and now owe CitiMortgage $242,239 on the home, and that is not including the interest. The bank is reportedly suing to foreclose on the home, and should the home be sold and the debt still not be covered, the Lochtes would still be responsible for making up the difference.
Last month, Ileane Lochte filed a motion to dismiss the case, but a judge has yet to rule.

Ryan Lochte, the superstar swimming for the U.S. Olympic team, may be a gold medalist, but it family is far form golden.
Lochte, 27, is the son of Cuban immigrant Ileana (Ike) and American father Steve Lochte. The Lochte family is full of swimmers. Both his father and mother are swim coaches, and his younger brother Devon, 22, was once on track to swim in the Olympics and possibly stand on the podium with his brother.
According to MailOnline, however, Devon has gone off track. Earlier this year, he was arrested for allegedly selling marijuana to a police informant. The arrest was came after Devon surprised many when he stopped swimming about a year ago, with some saying he is throwing away his chance at the Olympics. He was charged with marijuana possession and intent to sell, one being a misdemeanor and the other a felony. He took a deal rather than go to trial. As it was his first run in with the law, Devon was given 200 hours of community service. By July 5, he had completed 75 hours. He also had to has the court for special permission to watch his brother complete in the Olympics.
Devon is not the only Lochte in trouble with the law, however. In 2010, Steve Lochte, the swimmers’ father, was arrested for driving drunk. In April 2010, the senior Lochte was seen swerving a Toyota Landcruiser all over the road. When stopped, the officer witnessed him stumbling. Sobriety tests were conducted and he was arrested and charged at the scene after breathalyzer tests revealed he had a blood alcohol level of .217. (The legal limit in Florida and most of the U.S. is .08.) The then 58-year-old coach was placed on one year of probation, ordered to do 100 hours of community service, fined $1,494 and had to attend a substance abuse course.
Even though his family has gone through it’s share of drama, Ryan Lochte still managed to win Olympic gold for both himself and his country. Also, having lost a family member to Duchenne muscular dystrophy, he stated that he was swimming in London to help raise awareness and money for Parent Project Muscular Dystrophy, a U.S.-based charity devoted to research and care for children with the neuromuscular illness.
During this Olympics games, Lochte has won the gold medal in the 400-meter individual medley, a silver with the U.S. 4x100m freestyle team, and gold with the 4x200m freestyle team.
Lochte was recently linked to Australian swimmer Blair Evans, but in the July 28, 2012 interview with US Magazine, his mother Ileana said her son is too busy to in a relationship, stating it would be unfair to the girl.
The 27-year-old swimmer is preparing for his second showdown with fellow American Michael Phelps in the 200-meter individual medley on Thursday night. On opening night of Olympic swimming, Lochte was slower than Phelps in the 4×200 freestyle team. This will likely be the last time Lochte and Phelps compete, as Phelps has stated he will be retiring after these Olympic games.
Lochte will also be defending his title in the 200 backstroke final before the 200-meter individual medley with Phelps. These two events are said to be his strongest.
