What’s a five-letter word for an underhanded Scrabble player? C-h-e-a-t, according to news reports from the national championship in Orlando.

The unidentified player, described as one of the best young Scrabblers, was ejected after another player saw him hide two blank tiles to use in the next round, the Associated Press says. when confronted by tournament officials, he admitted not putting the tiles — which can be used as any letter — back into the bag from which tiles are drawn blindly.

North American Scrabble Players Association has the details.
