A shooting at the Washington, D.C., headquarters of the Family Research Council has left a security guard injured, according to officials.
The organization that advocates for Christian values and standards was targeted this morning and police are investigating, according to a statement from FRC President Tony Perkins.
“Our first concern is with our colleague who was shot today. Our concern is for him and his family,” he said.
The group’s offices are in the 800 block of G Street NW, and police officials told reporters a suspect was in custody in the shooting.
Fox News said, “A suspect walked in and started yelling about things they (FRC) supported and opened fire.”
The organization, founded in 1983, works to forward faith, family and freedom issues in the forum of public policy. They work through research projects, educating those on Capitol Hill and reviews legislation.
