Eight of the 16 bodies found Monday at the head of Coyuca de Catalán were identified Tuesday afternoon, according to the state Attorney General’s Office (PGJE).
The victims originated from the municipality of Copalillo Arcelia, in Tierra Caliente regions, in contradiction to the statements of the state governor who stated that the victims were from Michoacán.
The victims were identified as Gregorio Martinez, 49, his son Juan Pablo Martinez Martinez 22, and Porfirio Garcia Gomez, 61, mechanic, the three where from the neighboring township of Arcelia. Victims were kidnapped almost two weeks ago. Antonio Palacios was also identified Rosas 20, Margarito 48 Rosas Juárez, Jorge Jiménez Morales, 28, Lazaro Nava Munoz 25 , all from the municipal seat of Copalillo, within the limits of the northern state of Morelos.
A women who recognized her son and his four companions, said that ” the five men were residents of the county seat of Copalillo, located in the northern part of the state and are engaged in making and selling hammocks, adding that the last communication she had with her son (Antonio Palacios Rosas) was Wednesday September 5 about 20:30 pm, when he said he would came back from Apatzingan, Michoacan, in a taxi but he never reached his destination, “she the statement said.
Still remaining to identify are 8 bodies. They have been listed as unknown and are waiting to be claimed at the facilities of Semefo of Iguala.
