DELTONA – Awilda Gonzalez of Deltona says she could have been killed.

Two stray pit bulls attacked her and her diabetic puggle, Bucky, while they were on a walk around 7 p.m. Thursday night on Derby Drive.

Gonzalez says she was just eight doors down from her house, when the dogs knocked her off her feet.

“All of a sudden, I look up, and I saw this guy with a rifle,” she said.

Before the pit bulls could take any bites, Brian Gregg was in the driveway across the street with his gun.

“I felt horrible, but they were attacking this woman, and her dog,” he said.

Gregg fired four rounds, and hit at least one of the dogs in the leg.

They both ran off and have not been located.

Gregg says stray dogs are a big problem around the neighborhood.
