There’s no need for proper roads in the ‘Star Wars‘ galaxy far, far away. That’s because everyone from Jedi Knights to lowly nerf-herders can just get themselves a speeder bike and hover at great velocity above any relatively flat terrain.

Now the folks at Aerofex have developed a ‘Star Wars’-like hover bike for our home planet. And, as you can see in this video, it looks pretty darn fun.

According to Aerofax founder Mark De Roche, taking one of these bad boys for a spin is as easy as riding a traditional bicycle. “Since [the pilot's] balancing movements are instinctive and constant, it plays out quite effortlessly to him,” De Roche explains.

It may be a while, however, before you can buy a hover bike at your local authorized dealer. Aerofax is first shopping the technology to the military.

But it stands to reason the hover bike will eventually come to market, and we can’t think of a better ‘Star Wars’ technology to finally make it to Earth. Sure, a lightsaber would be cool to play around with. But it’s probably best they remain fictional until our quality of bionic limbs catches up to those featured in the iconic movie franchise.
