Peanut didn’t fall far from Grandpa’s liberal tree
Liberals are attempting to generate commotion regarding a video of Mitt Romney candidly addressing a group of supporters last May, in which he spoke of the 47 percent of Americans “who believe that they are entitled to health care, to food, to housing, to you-name-it.” He said they will remain committed to Obama. In fact, it is substantiated fact.
Credited as a “research assistant” on the story that is getting widespread attention is the unemployed James Carter IV, former President Jimmy Carter‘s grandson. He has been slogging online as an “opposition researcher” and is “currently looking for work,” according to his Twitter bio. He calls this “My biggest story yet.”
Arnold Ahlert writing for Front Page magazine makes the point that While Obama engages in a continuous campaign of class warfare, haranguing the rich for not “paying their fair share,” reality is quite different. In 2009 — the latest data available — the real “1 percent” of Americans paid 36.7 percent of all federal individual income taxes, but earned only 16.9 percent of adjusted gross income (AGI). In addition, the top 10 percent paid 70 percent of all income taxes, while 47 percent of Americans paid no income taxes at all. The fact that there is a different set of rules for different Americans is beyond dispute.
Detractors call this video “damning” to Romney’s campaign. Mitt Romney spoke factually. He has said nothing for which he needs to apologize.
