Those crack reporters at the blunderous AZ República just can’t seem to get it right. Cecilia Chan wrote the error-filled coverage of the arrest of a Phoenix man “who filmed a mock terrorist toting a fake rocket-propelled grenade launcher on the streets of northeast Phoenix.” Yet the 33rd Avenue and Bell Road address was clearly across town on the streets of northwest Phoenix.
Chan went on to describe his teenage accomplice who portrayed the fake terrorist, reporting that Phoenix police sent recommendations against him to the “Maricopa County Superior’s Juvenile Court Center.” Last we heard there were Maricopa County Supervisors and a Superior Court Juvenile Center. But “Maricopa County Superior’s?” Haven’t encountered either that group or their misplaced apostrophe yet.
The intent of the cinematic effort, posted on YouTube, was to check police response times to a terrorist situation in light of the horrific Aurora, Colorado theater shooting, where 12 moviegoers were murdered and 58 wounded. With the time ticker clearly evident on the video, the filmmaker documented a lapse of nearly 15 minutes before a lone Phoenix police officer casually responded. According to Chan’s report, a police spokesman said the response time was just over three minutes. The video, taped in late July was titled “Dark Knight Shooting Response, Rocket Launcher Police Test.” View the video HERE.
