New study shows the stakes are high in Arizona, Texas, Florida, and other states; Path to citizenship makes economic sense for states
A new report released by the Center for American Progress shows that providing immigrants pathways to citizenship could generate anywhere from hundreds of millions ($540 million in Arizona) to billions ($4.1 billion in Texas) of dollars in tax revenue.
“The report shows that providing immigrants who are already here with ways to become U.S. citizens is one of the keys to America’s long-term economic success,” said Gustavo Torres, conference co-chair of the National Immigrant Integration Conference and executive director of CASA de Maryland. “Immigrants have great potential to fuel our economy but that vision will only be realized if they have the support to navigate the complex systems they face in the U.S. communities they now call home.”
Economic success for immigrants and active citizenship are two key focuses for the National Immigrant Integration Conference.
