(Before It's News)

Anything and everything anytime

The pre-construction phase for the Heritage Landing condo tower has started on Assiniboine Avenue in downtown Winnipeg.  The 25 story tower will be on the banks of the Assiniboine river between the Midtown bridge and Bonnycastle park.  It is the first residential highrise constructed in the downtown since 1992.

The developers initially wanted to construct the building at the corner of Assiniboine and Main St.  But the fat cats at the elitist Manitoba Club blocked the proposal.  The well to do members of the club instead were going to develop a park behind the Upper Fort Garry wall right behind the club.  Other than demolition of the curling rink that was next to the wall nothing has happened.  The fat cats of the Manitoba Club are too busy trying to fatten their own pockets instead of moving ahead with a project that would benefit the public.
