I’ve always thought blogger and writer Andrew Sullivan was kind of boring. I still think so, but now he’s having a “major meltdown” after Obama’s poor debate performance and plummeting in the polls. According to a Higher Source:

Sullivan wrote that he was “trying to see the silver lining” and “trying to rally some morale,” but that he’s “never seen a candidate this late in the game, so far ahead, just throw in the towel in the way Obama did last week.” He described the president as “too arrogant to take a core campaign responsibility seriously. Too arrogant to give his supporters what they deserve.”

Perhaps Obama is throwing in the towel. Maybe he’s sick of Israel’s Benjamin Netanyahu constantly pressuring him into attacking Iran. Maybe he’s sick of pulling the predator drone trigger on innocent men, women, and children in Pakistan, Somalia, Afghanistan, and Yemen.

Wise Americans have always asked themselves, Who the fuck would want to be president, anyway? That question usually comes up during the presidential debates, where we see two goofy men talk about social issues and their own records and policies. Usually it has very little to do with us. Except it makes for good reality television.

But who would want to be president? Have your hair turn gray early. Have a bunch of corporate fat cats playacting importance over you because you need their money to stay elected. There’s always the threat of assassination, too. If you don’t give the CIA enough room to work. Or support Israel’s 1 percent. Or keep Wall Street and the world’s mega banks happy enough. Or provide a “single payer option” in your healthcare bill, instead of let the insurance companies write it.

I would throw in the towel, too, if I had to be in charge of a decaying nation. If I had to read letters from husbands and wives who have lost their homes, who don’t have health insurance, who have lost their jobs.

But wait! you might say. Mr Obama nailed Osama bin Laden’s ass. Shouldn’t that be enough to keep him excited and in the presidential race? He saved the world from a bad guy.

Well, I’ve heard enough military commanders and world leaders say Osama bin Laden wasn’t killed by a bullet, but by a bad kidney.

Who knows for sure? I have deep distrust for anybody who seriously wants to be president of this country.
