Ack!
House across the street was sold and bought by. . . . Wait for it. . . One of the men that attempted to steal our sheep.
So now all four of these men we caught are completely surrounding us.
What is a gal to do? You know the answer, the legal one guys. Sheesh!
Now the Neophyte Homestead will be going through some major changes and as I don’t mind making a complete fool of myself on a world stage, I will be chronically our new journey.
The Neophyte Homestead is now up for sale, by owner. Good neighbor is also leaving. However he is staying closer to here than we are, as his mother’s property has seen one of these four men attempting to squat it. Oh yes, they squat property. They fenced in other property and put their horses on it, and as soon as the owner heard about it he had to get the sheriff involved. I figure I can sell the place to one of their relatives (yes, the men are all cousins.) bad dog neighbor, woman that threaten me about my starving my cows husband, man that owns the property they tried to steal my sheep from, and now across the street from me.
Yesterday, even before I know who was moving in, I had done a bit of research. Turns out that most States have a program through the USDA for beginning farmers. First step, read your States brochure to see if you qualify. Guess what, I do!
I called my local bank and a woman transferred me to what I thought was a loan officer. Nope, found out after I got an email from him, that I was speaking with the VP. We shall call him Steve.
Steve and I talked. I told him what I was interested in, that I didn’t have property in mind yet as of was still in the research stages. And who earned points for that? Me!!
Steve and I talked for a bit. He was a little nervous about specialty breeds of livestock, but as I educated him more about them, and was able to prove to him that I had a bit of a clue to what I was talking about, he seemed happier about it. Suddenly he is hooking me up with a local USDA rep. Gary. Steve informed me that Gary was the man, and that they work closely together.
And Steve looks forward to working with me.
As our hunt and the beginner farmers program starts to play out, I will vomit the results all over this blog, the good the bad and the ugly. As I know that many of you wish to someday go through this process.
I have said in the past that I wish I hadn’t so many adventures, but with this new one starting, I am stoked.
