Blog del Narco: Two Officers Killed, 5 Injured in Sinaloa Ambush
At an ambush in the mountains near Picachos Dam area, two officers of the State Police were killed and five others injured when attacked by gunfire in an ambush. The officers were conducting a tour of surveillance in that area.
The officers who died at the scene were identified as Ivan Contreras Valenzuela and Daniel Garcia Chavez, while the five that were injured did not have their identification released.
According to official information the elements of the State Preventive Police were investigating an area near Picachos Dam when they were attacked from the top of a hill. The Officers immediately requested reinforcements which arrived after a considerable time.
They said they were at least 40 criminals wearing military uniforms and armed with AK-47 and AR-15 attacked the police officers. After the gunfire, the criminals fled before the backup had arrived.
The injured officers were taken to the local hospital for treatment of lesions from the shooting.
