Blue eyes in ancient Mesopotamia

The citizens from ancient middle east are considered to be a ‘dark race with dark hair and eyes’, however we can see so many blue-eyed Mesopotamian figures and depictions. Some says that Sumerians believed that blue eyes were a sign from Gods. Hebrew people associated light eyes with intelligence and dark eyes with ignorance. Some other people suggest that Sumerians might be a Caucasian race.
