Added on Nov. 12: Why they are not cracks
 
The reason is simple: rocks and cracks of rocks are not elastic. Living and dead blood vessels are elastic to some extent. Before they completely lost their elasticity, dead blood vessels still could form symmetric “bulges” of different widths. Blood vessel remains with different widths are found in fossils. Examples:
