Incrementalism has proved depressingly effective as a tool for getting most people to quietly surrender their rights piecemeal. For gradually habituating them to an ever-diminishing circle of liberty. When the circle finally closes and their rights no longer exist at all, they hardly notice – because by that time, most of their rights have already been taken.

The final surrender is met with a shrug rather than a scream of outrage.

Think how Americans have been habituated to arbitrary search and seizure. Something like the TSA would simply not have been tolerated if it came out of the blue sky circa 1980. And no, the terrr attacks of nineleven did not “change everything.” Getting people to accept “sobriety checkpoints” beginning around 1980 changed everything. Accept that – and something like Gate Rape is inevitable.

The same process works just as well when it comes to dismantling due process – and removing limits on what the government may not do to us. We didn’t get to legal strip searches for jaywalking or littering in one fell swoop. Nor rendition, torture as policy – and presidential kill lists. It is a matter of getting them – getting us – to tolerate “A” so that “B” will be accepted in turn.

This is how the citizens of the United States will be disarmed.

No sudden, mass ban or attempt at confiscation – because that would probably lead to open violence on a large scale and they – people like Dear Leader Obama and his Vyshinsky, AG Eric Holder, know this.

So, instead, they will first pass “reasonable” restrictions.

They will target not guns – just dangerous guns. So easy to demagogue anything with, say, a high-capacity magazine. Or which looks “military.” Think how the ground has already been ceded by mainstream “gun rights” groups like the NRA – which invariably talk about “sportsmen” and “hunting.” Who needs an AR-15 (or Sig 220) to hunt?

Open carry will be next. How many millions of Clovers would support a ban?

Next, they’ll lobby for a new law (or just issue a fatwa) that makes it much harder to get a CC permit. Such as at a judge’s discretion. And only if you have a “legitimate” purpose. Self-defense will not be considered a legitimate purpose.

But the big one – tied to Obamacare – will be the transformation of gun ownership into a public health issue.

  • Of course it will be “baby steps”… so subtle, that we won’t even notice.

  • Every year it ramps up. But it started in 1794. Thomas Jefferson wrote about it back then.

  • This will not happen in Oklahoma, Texas, Wyoming, Montana, Nebraska or Arizona. We will not give up our second amendment rights to an illegal, illmoral, fraudulent, usurper who cant prove who he is or IF he even exists. For that matter, we don’t know if he was ever the president, as he took the second oath, in private, as he purposely made some verbal mistakes. And this January, he will take it in private, because he gives the lame-brained excuse, that it falls on a Sunday. Why does that make any difference to HIM???? When is our Congress going to take him out?? How many more allies does he have to insult and men have to be killed before they will take action??

    • The Commonwealth of Kentucky has the most guns and is the largest purchaser of guns year after year. FACT. As a state, we bought from FEB 2010 – SEPT 2012 a total of 7 million firearms. Or 86,867 per 100,000 residents. Ahead of #2 Utah by more than double and #3 West Virginia by more than triple.

But I have to agree in part to this article, because not only of the Supreme Court ruling ‘Heller vs D.C.’ 5-4(only one vote difference) but also because of the blatant disregard to the very 1st amendment: The Freedom of Speech. The 1st amendment is being trampled now like the 4th amendment has been for the last decade. It’s so mind boggling disgusting yet patriots are still watching Top Gear and Family Guy.

“My people perish for lack of knowledge” Hosea 5:6 It’s true, so simple but true.

The only thing about incrementalism is it needs a conservative swath of time to become implemented. And the timeline on this fiat-debt based economy is running out. Look at Japan with it’s massive debt to GDP; if conditions continue there, Japan will be forced to raise interest rates, and that will be the signal that the Yen is going to experience a run on bonds and most likely hyperinflate in short order.

The Dollar is not in much better shape. Especially if dollar exclusion zones continue to grow and trillions of dollars return to our domestic market. Our debt to GDP has reached the ‘terminal’ phase as well. And with projected, continued recession for 2013 a guarantee, we also move closer to an insolvency crisis of monumental proportions.

Then there is the EU and the very real prospect that Germany will not let everyone ride on their dime much longer and leave the Union.

What I’m saying is, I think the global fiat debt system, with it’s galactic derivatives bubble and interlocking systemic fragility run by suicide bankers and kleptocrats who make Genghis Khan look quite tame will melt down before incrementalism can disarm 49 million gun owners.

We are certainly moving in that direction minus a few states who have added state constitutional amendments for the protection of gun rights. But the timing? I am skeptical of the time that would be available. Now, the possibility exists that the PTB may initiate a global thermonuclear world war III to completely distract and diminish a pesky global financial meltdown. I would not put it past them at all.

If such developments occurred, then the incrementalist method may be shifted into high gear by triggering REX 84, and the mountain of Executive Orders. And under some form of martial law skip forward to a ban of sales and ownership and then after some of the dust had settled, the very rattled population in need of food and basic necessities would tolerate the incremental collection of surviving firearms. At this point I find this possibility highly likely.

      What do you think?

  • Well, everyone at BIN keeps shooting blanks so I suppose no one would notice.

  • Bring it on!

  • It is about time that they do it. Too many people kill and injure others and self-defence is rarely the case. Time to be more intelligent and to do like they do in Europe. Be safe, destroy all your guns. Obama is doing the right thing again. It is time for America to progress and become wiser closer to the real values of the Bible.

    • That is a load of crap! There are nearly 2 million self defense situations in America every year. Most of them do not even require firing the weapon. But the thousands of cases where people do use their weapon, rape and murder have been prevented. And you act as though those lives do not matter. You have just lied through your teeth, either mistakenly or on purpose.

And our guns are to defend ourselves against a autocratic authoritarian power grab. That is the very reason we have a 2nd Amendment. The protection for self defense and hunting are simply available as a result.

I’m sure you would rather Americans prostrated themselves before tyranny and capitulated to total domination by the state. It would probably make the cowards in the rest of the world not feel so weak or lonely. Foreigners have no business commenting on our domestic laws. It is none of their damn business. If you don’t like how we live here in the United States, make sure never to drop by for a visit.

  • Anyone who thinks ‘authorities’ won’t go rogue on a disarmed public is so brain dead. Our 4th estate being totally bought out by globalists is probably a bigger threat right at this moment. All the bigs, fix, morestupidnonsense,,they have the blood of tyrants dripping off of them and they still go on camera. Every time the channel is on one I want to throw up, and I see all of the victims these creatures and their masters have and will cause. They are true media terrorists.

    • Yes. Disarming the target demographic is usually a precursor to genocide. Brain dead equals ignorance of history in this case.

  • SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED! end of conversation!

  • Two steps forward, one step back, the generation drip will allow them to have their way. Time is on their side and has been since the games beginning.

  • How many more people will have to be killed by crazed gunmen before the USA abandons it’s crazy gun laws. At least where I live if I inadvertently annoy someone (e.g. a minor traffic incident, or a row with a neighbour) I know that they’re very unlikely to pull a gun on me. The society that I live in is much safer because the citizens do not have the dubious right to possess guns.
This so called freedom to own guns in the USA comes at a very heavy price.
    Nordlaw.
