The United States of America was first born when The
Articles
of Confederation
were
adopted on March 1, 1781 and served as the form of government for the first 8
years of the new nation’s history:

of Confederation

To all to whom these Presents shall come, we
the undersigned Delegates of the States affixed to our Names send greeting.

Articles of Confederation and perpetual Union
between the states of New Hampshire, Massachusetts-bay Rhode Island and
Providence Plantations, Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania,
Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia.

I.
The Stile of
this Confederacy shall be
“The United States
of America”
The
United States Constitution was written in 1787 during the Philadelphia
Convention. After ratification in eleven states, in 1789 its elected officers
of government assembled in New York City, replacing the earlier 1781
Articles of Confederation government. Following its establishment, the original
Constitution has been amended twenty-seven times. The meaning of the
Constitution is interpreted and extended by
judicial review in the federal courts. An original copy of the
parchments is held at the
National Archives Building.
Who ordained
the constitution for the United States of America??  We the People of the United States.
We
the People
  of the United
States
,
in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic
Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and
secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and
establish this Constitution for the United States of America.
Article II is the only time (other than the Preamble) that the United
States of America
is mentioned in the Constitution, even though the style
of the name of the union of states was United States of America, in the
Articles of Confederation,  and the
constitution is ordained for the United States of America.  The use of particular words were no accident.
1:  The executive Power shall be vested in a President of the United States of America.  He shall hold
his Office during the Term of four Years, and, together with the Vice
President, chosen for the same Term, be elected, as follows:
George Washington took his oath on April 30, 1789,
as it is prescribed by article 8:

efore he enter on the Execution of
his Office, he shall take the following Oath or Affirmation:–“I do solemnly
swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States,
and will to the best of my Ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United
States
.”
Not only did George Washington take his oath to
faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States, but
also to peserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United
States
 - – -
but this is the
constitution for the United States of America. And every president after him
has taken the same oath.
