Don’t Fight Algae!

Geoff Lawton, one of the world’s most inspiring permaculture experts shows us a pool here that people can swim in, that grows fish that feed on algae directly, and they’re “booming”!

Most people with pools are “fighting algae”, which he explains is the wrong way to go. Algae is the basic beginning of life in a pond, and something to celebrate.

The fish feed on the Omega 3′s in the algae, so this is extra healthy for everyone in the chain – like the people eating the fish!

“Why would you have a poisonous system? Why would you have chlorine? Why wouldn’t you have it cleaned up by biology? Why not swim with nature, live with nature and let nature produce the surplus that gives you your sustenance? Real life!”

How inspiring!
