Test the water first
Hot water from baths or shows can pose a serious scalding hazard for you and your children.
The American Academy of Family Physicians offers these suggestions to prevent hot water burns:
– Always test the bath water yourself before you or your child get in the tub or shower.
– Adjust your hot water heater to the “low-medium” setting of 120 degrees.
– Don’t allow children to play with the faucets while taking a bath or shower.
– Never use a hot steam humidifier around children. Use the cool mist variety instead.
