In regards to Planet X, Darling explained that such an event would result in the object being clearly visible in the sky both during the night and the day. Darling rejected the idea that Planet X could be hidden behind the Sun, as the Earth’s rotation would eventually reveal a planet. “The mechanics of the thing don’t really add up,” Darling added. Finally, he said that it is possible that such a planet is lurking in the distant solar system and may eventually arrive near Earth, albeit not on 12.21.2012. “I cannot be persuaded that it will arrive in two weeks time,” he said, “I just cannot make it work in any scenario.
