Witnessing – being in our presence in the present moment, is an art of true living; it is meditation. It helps you to understand that you are neither your body nor your mind. The body is a beautiful tool to walk on this planet with, and the mind is made so beautifully that it can store, arrange, analyze, collect, inform, imagine, and evaluate. We communicate in this physical planet using our body and mind. The body and mind are a part of us, they do their job wonderfully, and it is our responsibility to use our body and mind wisely.
Meditation is a way of understanding the body and the mind. Witnessing the actions of the body and the mind is the most simple and effortless way of living as your true self, and living in your power. Every moment of life is an opportunity for meditation. Every act of life can be a meditative act. Grounded in the present moment, staying in the center of the head, and witnessing the actions of life leads to stillness. This stillness brings deeper understanding of life. When you are able to witness something, you understand that you cannot be that something as whatever you can watch, becomes separate from you. The body is more tangible and so can be easier to notice. When you get familiar with noticing the body, you can start noticing the mind.
Meditation is a constant act of noticing everything that is happening. It is noticing your body walk step by step. It is noticing while your hands help your mouth to eat, noticing your changing moods and emotions, and just being there with your wholesome self – just noticing. Noticing your walking you understand that the body is walking but not you, and by noticing your body in health or sickness, you understand that you are watching but you are neither your health nor your sickness. When witnessing, your powerful presence is capable of removing the cause of the sickness as you do not judge because you are not in the mind story. Therefore, the more you are in awareness that you are not your sickness, you are able to eliminate it altogether. Noticing your body in pain, you understand that it is the body’s message but that you are not in pain. By placing wholesome awareness in the place of your true self, you understand the mind stories that have caused the pain. This realization brings your powerful, nonjudgmental presence to the situation, and the pain automatically dissolves. This is the grand alchemy of Presence.
