(Before It's News)

At least 11 people have been killed and dozens more wounded in a bombing in Quetta in southwest Pakistan.

The target was not immediately clear, but local TV channels said the bomb went off near a paramilitary checkpoint. At least two of the dead are paramilitary officers.

Quetta is the capital of Baluchistan province, the site of a long-running armed campaign against the Pakistani state.

“Eleven people were killed and 30 injured in the blast. We will be able to tell you after some time what kind of device it was, but it was a crowded place,” said Mir Zubair Mehmood, the Quetta police chief, according to the AFP news agency.
