A blind Paralympian has become a real-life bionic man after being fitted with a ground-breaking eye implant to partially restore his sight.
Gold medallist Tim Reddish, from Nottingham, had a ten-hour operation to fit the 3mm microchip at the rear of his eyeball. He can now see light and shapes.

The 55-year-old, who has won more than 40 medals for his country, likened the moment his electronic chip was turned on to ‘a match being lit up in the dark’.
