CNN Morning Show Says Adios to Soledad O’Brien

CNN morning anchor, Soledad O’Brien, is announcing she will leave the “Starting Point” but remain with the network.  What exactly she will be doing for the network is unclear at this point.

The Wrap is announcing O’Brien is starting her own production company and will offer CNN her content but on a nonexclusive basis.  O’Brien has been with the network since 2003 and became widely known for her “Black in America” and “Latino in America” series.

O’Brien, whose mother is Afro-Cuban and father Australian, is the mother of four children.

Soledad, 46,  took the helm of “Starting Point” in November, 2011 when the network revamped its morning programming.  The show airs 7 to 9 am EST and has not often been a ratings winner for the network.

The award winning author’s “Morning Show” replaced the also poorly-rated “American Morning” which she co-hosted for CNN from 2003-07.

CNN has not announced what they will be doing programmatically with the morning slot.  The media rumor mill says Erin Burnett will leave CNN prime time and come on air in the morning along with new CNN hire Chris Cuomo.
