In an event to honor Dr. Martin Luther King at Texas A&M this month, actor Danny Glover stated that the genesis of the 2nd Amendment was to preserve slavery:
“I don’t know if you know the genesis of the right to bear arms,” “The Second Amendment comes from the right to protect themselves from slave revolts, and from uprisings by Native Americans.”
He continued, “A revolt from people who were stolen from their land, or revolt from people whose land was stolen from, that’s what the genesis of the Second Amendment is.”
Glover who was reportedly paid $40K to speak at the event upset event organizers as the topic of the 2nd Amendment was not part of the days topics.
