A winter storm watch for Monday through Tuesday across the Kansas City area was updated Sunday, with snowfall totals of 10 inches and more possible.
The National Weather Service also issued blizzard warnings Sunday for southwestern Kansas. The Lawrence and Topeka areas were included in winter storm warnings for central and northeastern Kansas.
In the Kansas City area, snow may begin as early as Monday morning and intensify by Monday afternoon into evening, the weather service at Pleasant Hill says. Heaviest snowfall is expected Monday evening into early Tuesday. Strong northerly winds of up to 30 mph combined with moderate to heavy snowfall will result in limited visibility and snow-packed roads producing hazardous travel.
