March 7, 2013Many wise people over the generations have pointed out that you can determine the level of civility within a society by taking a look at how the prisoners in that society are treated. This statement is usually made to include the worst of criminals, but unfortunately most of the people in jail today aren’t even real criminals, they are so called nonviolent “offenders”, who are treated like animals right along with the thieves and murderers.
Most of the people who have a hard nosed pro state perspective on prisons have likely never been subject to those conditions themselves. They are typically good slaves who don’t step out of line.
