Tech giant Google has started to map Japan’s nuclear exclusion zone for the company’s Street View online feature, according to ABC News. The company dispatched its vehicles to the city of Namie, closest to the damaged Fukushima nuclear plant – where some 21,000 people were displaced in the aftermath of the tsunami and 9.0 magnitude earthquake two years ago. The mayor of Namie has said his city has not completed the process of decontamination and much destruction remains. Together with Google, they hope to bring the reality onto world screens and to the city’s former residents, whose idea this was originally. The map of Namie will be released in a few months, according to Google.
