A Direct Threat to Whistle Blowers and the Alternative Media

(Before It's News)

As the country went on lock-down during the Boston bombings, our Congress worked quietly to hoist more surveillance and tyranny upon the American people:

It should be clear that what the US government really wants is to use private companies to gather even more information about people like you.

Of course, there’s the typical defense that people put up, which that ‘if you aren’t doing anything wrong, you have nothing to hide.’

But this ignores the fact that many of these I.T. companies are not politically neutral. We’ve seen this even in the past few weeks as Facebook has blocked numerous sites which were discussing the Boston bombing.

Consider the danger of having a company employee that sees some controversial content that you posted on Facebook or elsewhere be given the power to simply flag you and have your data sent to the authorities.

In the context of the ever more blatant government corruption and criminality this is extremely dangerous, and it should be viewed as a direct threat to whistle blowers and the alternative media.
