Cat Zingano, wife of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt Mauricio Zingano, is preparing for her UFC debut against Meisha Tate, but nerves do not appear to be an issue.
On April 13, Zingano will head into the octagon with former Strikeforce Women’s Bantamweight Champion, Meisha Tate. The winner of the fight will become a coach on “The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 18” against Ronda Rousey, the fighter who took Tate’s Strikeforce title more than a year ago.
Zingano recently told ESPN, ‘Going into UFC is an incredible opportunity. But every fight I go into is just a fight. It’s just me versus them, and my will versus their will, and who’s going to break and who’s going to get their hand raised.’
Though Saturday’s bout will be Zingano’s UFC debut, she is far from new to the sport. Zingano made her pro MMA debut in 2008, and has since won all of her seven fights (3 knockouts, 3 submissions, 1 decision).
The Zingano-Tate fight will be the second UFC women’s fight following February’s UFC 157 fight between Rousey and Liz Carmouche.
