(Before It's News)

A jihadist website used by an Islamist movement founded by a leading Chechen militant is denying any link to the deadly Boston Marathon bombings blamed on two ethnic-Chechen suspects.

The statement said the Caucasus Mujahideen are not fighting against the United States of America. It said, “We are at war with Russia, which is not only responsible for the occupation of the Caucasus, but also for heinous crimes against Muslims.”

The statement was signed by the Command of the Mujahideen of the Caucasus Emirate Province of Dagestan.

U.S. investigators are reviewing a visit that one of the suspected bombers made to Chechnya and Dagestan, predominantly Muslim republics in the north Caucasus region of Russia. Both have active militant separatist movements.

Travel records show 26-year-old Tamerlan Tsarnaev, who died Friday in a shootout with police, spent six months in Dagestan in 2012.
