FC Barcelona’s Vilanova Makes First Team Trip Since Cancer Treatment

Coach Francesc “Tito” Vilanova traveled to Paris on Monday with FC Barcelona, making his first road trip with the squad since returning to Spain last week after a 10-week stay in New York to undergo treatment for throat cancer.

FC Barcelona will play Paris Saint-Germain on Tuesday in a Champions League quarterfinal.

The 44-year-old had not traveled with the team since mid-January and had his first contact with his players last Friday after spending a few days with his family following his return from New York.

Vilanova last attended a game on Jan. 19, when Barcelona was beaten 3-2 by San Sebastian.

The coach is being accompanied by his family and is not expected to be on the sideline on Tuesday.
