Insane Republican Says ‘If Babies Had Guns They Wouldn’t Be Aborted
t sounds so stupid it’s easy to doubt the truth of it, but a Republican politician has actually suggested, as a campaign slogan, bumper stickers that say, “If babies had guns, they wouldn’t be aborted.” Here’s a screencap of the awe-inspiring Tweet:

Awe-inspiring, of course, through the staggering amount of idiocy. The most interesting part of the bumper sticker is the “Vote Pro-Life!” bit, because the suggestion that pregnant women seeking an abortion or the doctor doing the procedure should be shot doesn’t seem pro-life at all. It seems, in fact, murderously anti-abortion and anti-choice, but nothing more.
This cerebral excrement will seem slightly less awe-inspiring after a visit to Stockman’s website, however. He’s a typical Republican Representative; his website is full of political divisiveness and obstructionist political tactics. Reading his “latest Tweets” column illustrates the point brilliantly, showing that he has no rhetoric or talking points that aren’t strictly anti-Obama or anti-Democratic:

I’d also like to point out that a baby has already been born. Maybe he wants to arm the newborns to form a tiny army to infiltrate and destroy Planned Parenthood clinics. Other than that, I’m not sure how arming children would stop the abortion of embryos or fetuses. Maybe he meant to say, “If fetuses had guns, they wouldn’t be aborted.” Unfortunately for that logic (or his logic in general, if any part of his thought process can be called logical), approximately 90 percent of abortions occur during the first trimester, and although I’m not an expert in weapon design, it might be hard to create something for an embryo to use in self-defense.
If he had really thought it through, he would have taken a page from the NRA’s book and just assigned armed guards to each fetus. Or, maybe the NRA should take a page from his book and just give the guns directly to children.
On one more note — how do you provide the gun to the fetus? Maybe that’s the purpose of transvaginal ultrasounds; getting women used to it!
