Iran’s nuclear costs, estimated at $100 billion and rising, may make compromise between world powers and the Persian Gulf nation more difficult as diplomats meet today in Kazakhstan.
Anything more than a commitment to keep talking is unlikely between Iran and the P5+1 group of countries — China, France, Germany, Russia, the U.K. and U.S. — that began discussions today in Almaty, Kazakhstan, according to former diplomats and security analysts. World powers want Iran to stop nuclear work they say could enable weapons production, while Tehran’s government seeks a lifting of sanctions.
