Texas authorities are reporting a massive explosion at a fertilizer plant 19 miles north of Waco, Texas with multiple injuries. Initial reports indicate that people might be trapped in a nearby nursing home and residential apartment building.
The Waco Tribune is reporting that several buildings including a nearby school caught fire. While a dispatcher for the Texas Department of Public Safety, Dani Moore, stated she did not know exactly how many people were injured and the extent of their injuries.
The explosion is thought to have occurred shortly before 8p.m. local time at the West Fertilizer Co. on Jerry Mashek Drive. Numerous emergency vehicles including police, sheriff and ambulances are being reported at the site.
West, Texas is in McLennan County, Texas with a reported population of 2,674 people. This Friday, April 19th will be the 20th anniversary of the Waco Massacre with the Branch Davidians.
